Libraries throughout New York State will be participating in a statewide advocacy effort known as SNAPSHOTNY: A Day in the Life of the Library to show our state legislators how important libraries are in NY communities. Show your love for your library by visiting the library on Valentines Day. If you cannot visit in person, please visit the owwl.org website and use the online services such as placing a hold, renewing your materials or download an audiobook or eBook from owwl2Go.

Please visit the library on Tuesday, Feb. 14 to:

Borrow books, movies, audiobooks, magazines
Fill out a “My Library is Essential” form to tell us why your library is important to the community
Attend Preschool Story Time from 10:15 to 11:00
Attend Toddler Story Time from 11:10 to 11:30
Watch the movie Kung Fu Panda 2 on the big screen at 4:00 pm
Watch the movie The Help based on the very popular book by Kathryn Stockett (Valentine’s Day sweets provided.)

Answer: The amount of time that Bloomfield preschool and elementary school students spent reading this summer!

In addition, Bloomfield teens read at total of 176 books.

Parents and Students–Please, please help your library by logging in your summer reading minutes. We have to report summer reading participation so this would really help us! And it would also help us show our local funding sources the value of your public library!

When you “log in” your minutes you are automatically registered for our weekly prize drawings. Mrs. A will be pulling random prize winners this week and some more on the last day of summer vacation.

Reminder: For all students registered through Bloomfield Elementary School the password is “readbooks”.

Keep track of the number of minutes you read on your own Summer Reader webpage. You can log in and record your minutes every day or once a week.

When you Log In and record minutes you will be eligible for prize drawings.
Teens and Adults– you can enter the titles of the books you read.

Thanks for visiting the library on Tuesday, Feb. 15 — SnapShot NY Day — to show your support for libraries. 184 people came into the library on Tuesday and 429 items were checked out. 59 children and adults enjoyed Preschool Story Hour, Toddler Story Time and an after school movie on the big screen. Our statistics will be combined with other libraries across NY state to let our legislators know that libraries are ESSENTIAL to our community.
